FAQ

Which models cover the UV wavelength range (355 nm or less)?

The LUM-B-D features a reflective ND filter optimized for DUV/UV and covers the 200–1064 nm range. For UV applications involving focused beams (e.g., 355 nm wafer dicing), the LUM-F-UV (343–355 nm, ×20/×10 objective) or the LUM-F-DUV (240–355 nm, reflective ND) are suitable.

Can the same equipment measure multiple wavelengths?

The LUM-B series comes with ND filters matched to the selected wavelength range at the time of order (DUV: reflective; UV/VIS/NIR: absorptive). The LUM-F features a hot-swappable objective lens unit, allowing you to purchase and install additional objective lens modules for different wavelengths. This enables support for a wide range of wavelengths without the need for multiple profilers.

What is the standard warranty period?

LUMOS products come with a 12-month warranty from the date of shipment, covering manufacturing defects in hardware and electronic components. Lumosity software is provided free of charge and includes free updates.

What is covered and excluded under the warranty?

Warranty coverage: manufacturing defects in sensors, electronic components, and assembly processes. Exclusions: sensor damage caused by laser exposure (burn marks, reduced sensitivity — excluded regardless of the warranty period); physical damage (drops, scratches on filters); damage caused by laser output exceeding specifications; and deterioration of consumables (ND filters, natural aging of CMOS/CCD, and sensor manufacturing process characteristics within specifications). Note: sensor modules are generally replaced as a whole unit; partial repairs are not possible.

What is the RMA/repair procedure for distributors?

Distributors must coordinate RMA with the Shinhotek Technical Team (service@lumosity.co.kr). Remote diagnosis and prior approval from headquarters are required before shipping the product. The typical turnaround time is 4–12 weeks after the product is received, depending on the type of malfunction and parts availability.

What is the standard lead time from order to shipment?

Standard models (LUM-B-D, LUM-B-N, LUM-F-UV, LUM-F-NIR): 4–6 weeks from PO. Large sensor models (LUM-B-L): 6–8 weeks. LUM-Z (3D Profiler): 8–10 weeks (current tentative schedule). IFI Optics: 6–8 weeks. Lead times reflect the manufacturing and quality control (QC) processes.

What shipping methods are used, and who handles customs clearance?

Shipments are typically made via UPS, DHL Express, or FedEx International Priority. The Incoterms (EX-works) are specified in the pro forma invoice for each transaction. Shinhotek prepares the export documents (HS code, commercial invoice, packing list, calibration certificate). The local agent is responsible for import customs clearance.

What communication interfaces does Lumosity support?

Lumosity software provides TCP/IP sockets and an XML interface for external control and data collection.

Can measurement results be exported via a protocol?

Yes. Lumosity uses a TCP/IP (socket)-based XML protocol to transmit results to the customer's PC software.

How are multiple cameras managed in a multi-point monitoring configuration?

Multiple LUM-B cameras can be connected simultaneously to a single Lumosity instance via GigE, and each camera is displayed in a separate viewport. This is ideal for production lines that monitor multiple laser heads in parallel and offers a distinct advantage over single-camera competitors.
